Faculty at the School of Architecture engage in varying research projects.
Professor Philip Beesley and his Hylozoic Ground Project was awarded the honour as the key installation in the Canadian Pavilion at the 2010 Venice Biennale. He has recently been promoted to Full Professor.
Our Team North Solar Decathlon Team placed 4th overall in the Solar Decathlon that was held in Washington, D.C. in October 2009.
Professor Terri Meyer Boake has been a key player in the launch the Carbon Neutral Design Project web resource, with the aid of funding from the American Institute of Architects. Her book "Understanding Steel Construction: An Architectural Design Manual", published by Birkhauser, is due for release in November 2011. She has also recently published "CISC Guide for Specifying Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel".
Professor Elizabeth English is engaged with the revitalization of New Orleans through the Buoyant Foundation Research Project.
Professor John McMinn has been engaged with the "44 to 66 Regional Responses to Architecture in Canada" project. This has resulted in a traveling exhibition that was the feature of the 2008 Venice Biennale.
Professor Philip Beesley is working on the design of Responsive Systems and his research explores the cutting edge of digital fabrication.
Professor John Straube carries a dual appointment with the Department of Civil Engineering. John is a key player in Canadian research in Building Science.
