Welcome to the Admissions Process for the School of Architecture at the University of Waterloo. We are proud to offer a unique accredited professional degree program that allows students to experience all facets of architectural education from "day one" of first year. For this reason, our admissions process looks very carefully at your creative and linguistic skill set. Although academic performance is a good indicator of your preparedness for our School, we must look beyond academic grades, to be sure that you are ready to successfully partake in design, culture, technical and environmental courses.
Architecture is inextricably connected to culture, technology and the economy. It is always changing. Today, in addition to acquiring the long established skills of the architect, our students are exploring computer imaging, multi-media presentation and environmental factors in design. This range of exploration and innovation is reflected in the fields in which our graduates find work. While 95% of recent graduates pursued careers in architecture, others branched into new media design, furniture design, or the media.
The admission categories, requirements and procedures are outlined in detail in the 'Admissions' section of the University of Waterloo Calendar.
