Help shape the 2009 retreat content. Proposals for presentations in any of the six session themes are invited. You may also propose a presentation, workshop, or activity that doesn't fit neatly into one of the sessions...we have some time reserved for the unexpected.

1)      Carbon Neutrality in the Lecture course

2)      Carbon Neutrality in the Studio setting

Carbon Neutral or Low Energy Research

3)      Reporting on CND research

Impact of Carbon Neutral on People and Programming of Buildings

5)      Springing from Katy Janda's presentation at New Forest - "Buildings Don't Use Energy - People Do!"Highlighting innovative ways to reprogram buildings and people to REDUCE!

6)      Great case studies to share??!!

Presentation time slots will be short (10–15 min.) and organized into serial sessions, so that we can accommodate as many presentations as possible, encouraging everyone's participation in each session.

Limit your proposal to one page. All sessions will be seventy-five minutes in length and presentations will be limited to 15 minutes. A digital projector, overhead projector, and a flip chart will be available and we'll supply the computer. Bring your presentation on a CD and/or a thumb drive. You must supply any other materials needed.

Proposals must include:

  • Name(s) of session organizer/presenter

  • Contact information (institution, email, telephone, website)

  • Theme(s) addressed by your proposal

  • Title of your presentation

  • Summary of objectives, specific issues addressed, questions raised, and/or activities implemented

  • Intended outcome(s) and deliverable(s)

  • be about a page in length

Submission Deadline: Proposals with “Subject: SBSE Retreat Proposal” should be submitted via e-mail by Monday, February 23, 2009, 5:00 pm EST to both:

Notification: March 23, 2009
Accepted presenters must then register for the retreat by April 1, 2009, 5:00 pm EDT to ensure a place at the retreat. Andre and Claude are reserving rooms at the Clarendon Hotel which is a very short walk from Laval. The rooms will only be held until April 1, 2009 and will be available for SBSE people needing accommodation for the Retreat, for PLEA or both.

We have specifically reserved two accommodation types for SBSEers: The Clarendon Hotel ($$) and the Student's Residences ($)on Laval Campus. SBSEers should use the online accommodation page of the PLEA website at http://www.plea2009.arc.ulaval.ca/E/Accomodation.html for these two accommodations. At the bottom of the registration pages, they will have to choose their attendance: PLEA, SBSE or both PLEA/SBSE.
