Drawing the Line
Mondays 10 am to 1 pm
A course on the importance of sketching in the study of architecture by Hugh Thompson With particular attention to sites of historical significance.
Aims and objectives are to elevate the quality of the initial sketch in technique, composition, confidence of line and overall impact to the viewer. To promote and confirm the importance of the initial concept when rendered in sketch form. To develop purity of line and instinctive composition as a by product of the exercise.
COURSE EXERCISES
Broad sketching of structures in the field, details of elements within the subject. Finished drawings of specified subjects. An appreciation of empty space and, or, backgrounds. Consistency of format and materials.
DEADLINES
Every second week for home work review. End of each month for review of general progress. Each week we expect to complete three sketches, and one finished drawing.
GRADING
Works will be critiqued each second week, correction or advice will be given. Finished drawings will be graded end of each month.
